Born Efemena Mukoro better known as Blackmagic, also referred to as “Ejay Blackmagic” is a Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter who is well known for his funny raps style. His kind of music consist of Afrobeat, Hip-hop and Soul which he blend to give fans that unique sound that keeps the head nodding all day.
Blackmagic was born and brought up in Lagos, Nigeria. The popular singer is is from the Delta State region of Nigeria. He attended his secondary education at King’s College, Lagos, he also study Computer Science at the University of Benin (Nigeria). He started his music career at a very young age , he was interested in rapping and singing and would joke around with friends. His journey into music started in 2001 but he was BlackMagic was officially discovered in 2007.
As Blackmagic grew older his interest in music also increased greatly and he was opportuned to have direct access to cameras and recording equipment. While he was still studying at University of Benin (UNIBEN), he was very popular around school campus because he use to create documentaries of classmates and lecturers on different topics and continued to showcase his interest in music. As time goes on, he was able to have an idea of what life have in stock for him and what he can do beter. From there, his passion for music began to grow and it is very undastandable that his passion for music could no longer be put on hold.
In August 2011, Blackmagic released his His 3rd single, “Foreigner” which features female emcee “Saeon” and is produced by T-Flava. Within his short time in the Music scene he has perfomed on several events like Hennessy Artistry Tour, Lynxxx and Friends Campus Tour, Copa Lagos FIFA beach soccer event and the launch of the Modern Day School of Arts to mention a few.
On November 20, 2011, BlackMagic organised Live Band listening session called “BLACKMAGIC LIVE” for the release of his debut album-“BLACKMAGIC VERSION 1.0”. Blackmagic’s sophomore album, Blackmagic 2.0 is another nice album which contain alot of beautiful singles like Repete, Africa Remix featuring Reminisce, Phyno and Vector, Body featuring Banky W and Pass You By featuring Oritsefemi.
In 2013, Blackmagic walked away from his record label, Syndik8 Records after both parties failed to reach a mutual agreement over recording contracts. Net.ng reported that Blackmagic has parted ways with his record label Syndik8 Records headed by the flagship artiste Lynxxx. Before he left he released his first single, “Tomorrow”. He also released “Rainbow” when he was under Syndik8 Records. After leaving Syndik8 Records, he then moved on to start his own label, Blackmagic Entertainment, after a while he released his first album titled “BLACKMAGIC version1.0” (BMv1.0).
