Tope Alabi

Tope Alabi, also known as Ore ti o common and as Agbo Jesu, is a Nigerian gospel minister, singer, film music composer and actress born on 27 October, 1970 in Lagos State, Nigeria.

She is the daughter to Pa Joseph Akinyele Obayomi and Madam Agnes Kehinde Obayomi. She is the only female of the three children born to her parents.

Tope Alabi studied at Oba Akinyele Memorial High School, Bashorun Anlugbua, Ibadan in the year 1986 where she obtained her West Africa School Certificate (WASC). She then proceeded to The Polythecnic, Ibadan where she studied Mass Communication and graduated in the year 1990.

She was formerly a member of the Jesters International comedy group. She later worked with other popular travelling and stage theater groups in both Ibadan and Lagos. She made films in the Yoruba film genre of Nigeria. Alabi later metamorphosed into gospel music after she became a born-again Christian.

To date, Tope Alabi has eleven albums: Oore Ti O Common, Certificate, Agbara Olorun and Agbara Re Ni, Kokoro Igbala, Angeli mi, Mori’Yanu, Agbelebu, Alagbara, Oruko TunTun, Compilation of Soundtracks from the Archive of Tope Alabi.

She also has some Live Performance Releases from the “Praise the Almighty Concert” organised yearly including Praise the Almighty Concert Live Video CD 2014, Praise the Almighty Concert Audio and Video CD 2016 and the live video of the Welcome and Award Event that was titled Amazing Grace.

According to a report by Nigerian Films, the artiste who is married to her manager, Soji Alabi, had a child before entering the union which produced three children.
